Dr. Taylor McCain
DVM, Practice Associate
Dr. McCain is the newest addition to the veterinary staff at Companion Animal Hospital. She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 2010 and was the Valedictorian of her class. Dr. McCain achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with a minor in Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as a university scholar (School of Honors) from Stephen F. Austin University in 2014. Dr. McCain then earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University's School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Throughout both undergraduate and veterinary school, she was the recipient of numerous awards.
Before coming to work for Companion Animal Hospital, Dr. McCain worked in Dallas, Texas with a local veterinary corporation. Her special areas of interest in veterinary medicine include soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine. Dr. McCain is a member of many professional veterinary associations including the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Heartworm Society.
Dr. McCain enjoys being an active member of her community and has participated in events such as Spay Day at LSU. She has also helped with the Josh Project, a non-profit organization that helps serve the needs of children in hospitals.
In her free time, Dr. McCain and her fiance, John, spend time with their six dogs that include a mini Australian Shepherd, a Terrier, a Shepherd mix, a Rottweiler, a Terrier mix, and a Hound mix. She also enjoys reading books, playing video games, horseback riding, and outdoor activities like hiking and hunting.
